Hey guys. I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4. I have an aftermarket radio. I have a movie in my DVD player. How do I get the sound to play through my speakers? I did look in the owner's manual but it mentions nothing about it.

I have been searching night and day to get the thing to work! If anyone can help, I will appreciate it greatly!

Do you mean that you have an aftermarket radio and stock DVD player?

That is correct. I have the stock DVD player and the stock DVD tv in the back. I have an aftermarket radio.

In that case, you may have a hard time getting an answer.

I think only 1 or 2 guys on this forum have the stock tv and I think one if not both of those people had VCR's.

Here are some general questions that may spur future answers;

Did you hook up the head unit yourself?

Was there an extra harness?

Do you have that little AUX button next to the heated seat switches? Does it do anything?

My brother hooked it up. Cars is his thing. I am just good at computers and phones lol.

I remember we bought extra wires to hook up the new radio.

I have that AUX switch. It does nothing ever since he put the new radio in. When I had the factory unit, the AUX switch would stop my music and just buzz. I had to turn the switch off and then I can listen to my CDs.

There is probably a DIN plug in the driver's side trunk area trim. It looks like this:

I'm not sure whether it's used for both the VCR and the DVD player options, but perhaps you can tap into this plug's wiring to somehow get it to input to your head unit? There are supposed to be wiring diagrams available in the audio section of the 2001 QX4's EL section, but apparently there is not. The 2001.5 Pathfinder's EL section should be close enough - see page EL-164 to start with. I think the "aux box" and "rear TV switch" might be relevant. Unless I'm mistaken and have no idea how the DVD player in the QX4 is set up?

I will have my brother check it out. The closest thread to mine is this one

need-help-selecting-aftermarket-stereo-t539822.html

The person never got a response so it does no good. I saw that the AUX switch is for the DVD player. Ever since my brother changed my head unit, that switch does not work. I think we have to do something with the AUX switch to the head unit, but the again, I am clueless when it comes to cars.

Should I still have my brother check the DIN plug or mess with the AUX switch thing?

I really appreciate the help. Thank you.

I'd think the aux switch is the more likely problem. I just don't know what should be done with the aux switch to hook it up to your current head unit, unfortunately.

Do you think an FM Modulator would work instead?

I guess we would need to know two things. What type of aftermarket radio do you have and you may need to find a pin out for your dvd player. The second may not be easy to find but I would say it's possible. Before you buy a modulator, does your new radio have an aux in?

I have a Sony MEX-BT5700U. It does have an AUX port built in to it. Here is a picture if it helps.

In my experience when I had a stock radio and the vcr player, the aux switch was used to have the vcr audio outputed either to wireless headphones or the speakers. So by having the switch in the correct position and wired to the correct wire, then it should work.
I have done a little research into this and what I came up with was that the VCR was made by clarion and it was a special automotive vcr and the din plug was used for both a/v and power. After searching online I found this pin diagram,
http://freespace.virgin.net/matt.waite/ ... /din8a.htm
but I never tried this out to see if this was correct. I don't know if this is the same for the dvd player.

I am going to take it to a sound shop on Monday and see what they say. The guy said it may be cheaper just to but a tv and hook it up.
