Hello everyone!

I am new on this forum. Have been visiting often since I LOVE Infiniti vehicles, and you guys here were really helpful with some advices.
However, now I do have major problem with my I30, and every help will be GREATLY appreciated.

I had check engine light on my I30 for few months now and car would made louder noise from engine only at lower speed (up to 30mph), and after that it would be gone. Guys at Firestone told me it is nothing major (I forgot name of the part but it was 70$ fix).
In last month I started to experience problems when car is in neutral (or driving without foot on gas)...it seemed like car will not slow down completely, instead would keep running at 20-30 mph... Sometimes it would be normal though...depends...

And then...BOOM! Last week ago my engine just shuts off in middle of driving. It did few times but then it was normal so I was able to drive back home. Next day same problems... Finally, next day every time car would start fine (replaced starter few months ago) but immediately after let gas pedal, engine shuts off... After revving it for about 5 min, I was able somehow to take it to local shop...

Mechanic told me at first that I need to replace air duct (it was cracked) and solenoid. Total estimated work was about 800$ but what did not make sense to me he said there is no guarantee car will work perfectly after that. 6 hours later he phoned me to say that he can not buy just that part (solenoid), instead he need to replace some board which is 1300$ itself !?
That is crazy!!!

I ended up replacing air duct, but car is still not working.

Computer showed 2 codes:
P1130 and
P0505

In autozone they told me also that battery is bad.

I been reading about this problems a lot in past few days and seems like common problem. Please, can you help me with where to start???
Need to mention is that I work with very limited budget here, so every help and advice is GREATLY appreciated!

ALso at Firestone they said (lost month) that I might need to replace engine mounts...not sure if that is connected with my problem...
Infiniti is 2001 and it has 195k miles on it. LOVE that car...Please help

Thank you a lot!

Information on the P1130 code can be found starting on page EC-453 http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/I30/2001/ec.pdf

If you want to replace it yourself, you can try searching for throttle bodies or intake manifolds and see what comes up.http://www.car-part.com/
You can then call and see if they have the swirl valve control solenoid.

The P0505 is likely what's causing your car to stall. Page EC-429 http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/I30/2001/ec.pdf
You can take off the IACV and clean it with some degreaser, but you'll likely need to purchase a new one considering your mileage. Hopefully it hasn't shorted back to the ECU.

I haven't experienced any IACV/ECU issues on 01 I30 yet, but am thinking maybe replace the part prior to a potential failure? I had my nose under the "bonnet" the other day and thought I could smell a coolant odor around the throttle body area..

P1130 is throttle position sensor
Symptoms seem that way too
I would start there and also fix the air duct
I just fixed my air duct with epoxy ( the kind where you have
two tubes-one for glue and the other for hardener) about $5
TPS Sensor should be about $150 at Nissan
BUT NOT FOR $800
