I've been offered a 2001 I30t with 103K on it for $8900 negotiable. The car is in good shape. I'm waiting for the dealer to send me a carfax but assuming it comes back clean I was thinking of maybe offering $5000 + my 1995 G20t tradein (assuming the I30 checks out at an Infiniti dealer). Is this a good deal? And what should I look out for when examining this car? I know about the MAF and ignition coils but is there anything else?

Sounds like a very good deal. Maybe too good. I'd expect to pay above $14k for a 2001 I30t. What's the milage?

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Just make sure you get the carfax (and it's clean). With a lot of people looking for the added performance of the 02+ 3.5Ls, the low mileage 00-01 3.0Ls have gotten to be a better deal. I guess it'll most likely depend on what the dealer will give for the G20 trade in. Expect them to low-ball the hell out of you on it. You may try going to a different used car lot and see what they'll give you as a buy bid for your G20; it may be more than what you're offered as a trade in, and less hassle than selling publicly.

103,000 which is a bit higher than I wanted. The only reason this car caught my eye is that it's got the touring package. I'm torn between jumping on this one now or waiting until the end of the summer when I will have more money to spend on something with lower miles....depending on what I end up doing for a summer job I may have several thousand more to spend on a car. I've basically narrowed my choices to a 2000-01 Lexus ES300, 2001 I30t/2002+ I35, or a 2000 Mercedes C280 Sport, so this is a tough decision.
