2001 G20 P0134 code dies at idle

Great site- very informative. I have searched both current and archives but I can't find anything like what I am experiencing. Thanks in advance for your help.

New to me 2001 G20 97K - service engine light came on pulled a P0134 code. Car idles at 600-700 RPM then every 20-25 seconds drops to <300 RPM for a few seconds, then jumps back up to regular idle (when it drops <300 it sometimes dies). Besides the sudden drop the car idlesand runs smooth. Also if it does die it starts back up - no issues.

Replaced Bank 1 O2 sensor- issue remains. Runs fine while driving, but at idle will drop <300 for a second or two then go back to 600-700 RPM (if it doesn't die) Also replaced fuel filter for good measure.

Any ideas besides cleaning the MAF?

Just in case anyone else has had this issue....

Cleaned the MAF sensor and it cured the issue. I kicked another code- too lean & knock sensor, but after I cleared them I have not had any other issues.
