i have a coworker that just bought a 2001 frontier v6 auto, 2wd. looked all over for a 5 speed but couldnt find one. anyone here done a conversion to one before? i have done it to 5 240sx's but never a truck. all that i need to know is simple stuff, like can the trans harness be converted to work with the manual trans. will that auto ecu work (i understand that it will throw a code). and location of the netrual safety switch.

Its my understanding that the Frontiers recieved the newer version of the v6 5 speeds fs5r50a(v6), where as HB's got the fs5r30a(v6). Frontier v6 5 speeds are extremely rare as it is. I would go with a 300zx transmission with a modified shifter craddle, or even a 87-89 turbo 300zx 5 speed. All fs5r30a's are 29" in length but they came configured differently in each vehicle. One from an 87-89 should almost be a damn near bolt in job. Aside from the Dl issues. peace.

best to buy a wrecked donor truck to do the swap. Truck clutches are hydraulic and will need the slave cylinder too.
