Hi All...

Earlier this week my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE had the check engine light comeon my wife while she was driving. I had the code checked 12/09/05 at AutoZone and they said it had these error codes: P1110 and P1135.

Can anyone tell me what these codes mean and what to fix? How much would this cost me if dealership was to fix. How much would it cost me if I did this myself?

Thanks for the help!

P1110 is an trouble code for the engine intake valve timing control (bank 1) and P1135 is the same for bank 2. When either of these codes are set your truck will run in fail-safe mode.

The possible causes are faulty crankshaft position sensor (CKP), camshaft position sensor (CMP), or circuitry. If you have 1 CMP per bank then the chances that they both went wrong at the same time are about nil, so that would leave the CKP and system wiring and control units as potential sources of the problem.

How good do you feel about diagnosing that stuff?

Magnes,

Thank you for the post...but that stuff starts getting complicated for me. I'm not all that mechically inclined to troubleshoot electrical connections. But I do have afriend who can help me fix this. Once I can provide him the info like what you posted, he can pretty much figure it out from there. From a rating of 1-10 fromnot hard (1) to Professnional (10). What would you rate this project? I wouldconsider myself a 3 being able to change oil in my cars and that is it...If you can provide me with more info...I can pass it on to my friend.

Thank you

Here's an article about how to check and what they mean

I've got no personal experience making these repairs, but asking the local Nissan dealer what the "book time" is for those repairs would be a good starting point.

I made a call to my friend just minutes ago...but no answer...I guess he's got a life...LOL I'll try calling him again tomorrow.

Thank you for the list of all the codes. This should help help him diagnose when I get the chance to talk to him.
