Car popped a P1320 the other day and I cleared it thinking it was my alternator (damn thing squeals like a banshee on start up, time for belts!) just not providing enough juice in the morning. Was driving at freeway speeds and my SEL came on and car started misfiring like crazy so I pulled over, checked the code and it was the P1320 again, drove the car home (1/2 mile) and am looking to replace the ignition coils. I found a thread talking about checking the ohms on posts 2 / 3 on the coil, so I'm going to try that tomorrow. Is there a sure fire way to tell which coil it is? Since #1 is different I can't just swap its position, but I also don't have a secondary code yet saying which cylinder. Is it a safe bet to assume that its the first cylinder at this point?

Also as far as brands go, from reading through the forums and a few other sites it sounds like non-oem aftermarket ignition coils are a bad thing and that most people go with the Hitachi coils as they usually come saying NISSAN on them. I found two parts, Hitachi #IGC0023 for Cylinder #1, and #IGC0027 for Cylinders #2-6. Unfortunately both places in town that have them in their system are out of stock till the end of the week. I feel weird ordering them from Amazon but they can get them to me tuesday (yay prime!), for $50 for Cyl1, and $60 a piece for Cyl 2-6, which is half that of any local places and about the same as Rock Auto.

Thanks guys!

It may also be a bad crankshaft position sensor. The FSM has some testing procedures for that code that will test the harness, resistance of the packs, and the CPS:

Don't feel weird about buying those on Amazon, especially if it has Prime shipping. I buy most of my parts there and have had great luck with the quality of stuff they've sent me.

If you can get the Hitachis for $50 a pop, that sounds like the best buy. I've had good luck with SMP (Standard Motor Products), too.

Car eventually threw a P0304 (if I remember right, Cyl #4) error. Ordered a new coil and replaced all the plugs with OEM NGK Laser Platinums and the Cylinder 4 coil. So far so good, runs a lot better and holy crap were the old plugs bad. Car has 143k on it at the moment, I picked it up with 84k so I'm pretty sure these were the stock plugs.

Using Torque I no longer get a TID: $01 CID:$01 "Rich to Lean sensor threshold" error, no more ECU errors (P1320 & P0304) either after a few hours of driving. I am still getting a TID: $03 CID:$02 "Low sensor voltage for switch time calculation Max: 95 Current: 173" in my Test Results. I can't for the life of me find what that problem is on Google or my Haynes. Anyone know what that error is pointing towards?
