What's up everyone? New to the site and love all the info I'm getting. I'm getting ready to change the plugs in my '01 3.5 pathfinder and could use some advice. The local shops I've talked to said the upper plenum and maybe lower plenum will have to be removed to change spark plugs and said it would cost around $550 to change them. I think I will just do it myself. I've been looking at some of the post on here and it looks like I can do this without taking off the plenum. Any advice from someone who has done this before would be great. Thanks!

...have you looked at the location of the coils? Dude, there's all kinds of room - The only one you MIGHT have to move something for is the rear, driver's side...where the intake mounts...aside from that, I wouldn't forsee any need to remove anything, much less upper and lower plenum (I have yet to do my plugs, so I'm assuming here from inspection of my engine bay previously. I'd say no worries, get to it!

tell those shops to eff off. I just change mine a couple month ago on my 3.5 and all u need is a long extension for the spark plug socket and to take a few things out. The hardest to do is the number 4 and 6. they are tight. all u would have to do is take out the intake airbox tube that goes to the throttle body. And then if possible jjust romove the iac valve at the bottom of your throttle body and... if that is not possible...have someone help u remove the throttle body and do it from there. Remember if u decide to remove the throttle body, make sure u replace the gasket. otherwise the ecm will throw a code for running to lean. 550 bucks is rip off big time.!

To remove the spark plugs...u first have to unbolt the ignition coils(6). take them out by twisting them loose and pull them out gently. Very sensitve parts and can break easily. Once they are out, remove the sparkers. And done. REpeat for all other coils. Just remember the number 2 coil is the only one that is different than the rest. Do one at a time.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that was a rip off. I picked up a gasket and some ngk platinum laser plugs and a magnetic plug socket. I think that should get me.
