2001 1.8L sentra HELP!!!

Hey guys well here is my problem (dont worry I have searched and cant find an answer here)

My car idles fine and cranks fine, but it wont let me go above 3.5-4k rpm while in nuetral park or drive. When I go to high in the rpms the tach crashes to zero while the motor sits at 3.5-4k almost like a rev limiter, so going down the road its drivable but really slowely and I cant hit passing gear or take off to fast... WHAT IS MY PROBLEM HELP ME!!!!

Any SES/CEL? If so, what code(s)?

Sounds like some kind of safe mode to me.
