Having a little trouble with my 2000 SE. Basically I was driving home yesterday on the freeway, when all of a sudden the car starts to hesitate badly. If I give it little throttle, it coasts well, however as I put the pedal down further, it just starts to jump and doesnt go any faster or rev higher. Made it home really slowly. SES came lit up on the way, and it was the P0300 code (random/multiple cylinder misfire).

The car will rev fine as long as I give it under 25% throttle. If I try to give it any more, the engine just starts to bog like crazy, it backfires, and wont rev past about 2000 rpm.

I know my MAF is going bad, since Ive been getting the P0170 & P0171 codes for a few weeks now, but in my mind its kind of hard to see how a bad MAF can cause the engine to misfire. I cleaned the MAF and it made no difference.

The car has been doing stuff similar to this for a while too on the highway. I will be cruising normally at around 3000-3500 RPM, when all of a sudden it will just feel as if I let off the gas completely. Then after a moment it will be fine again.

Final thing, right before this happened I put in a full tank of gas. Any chance I could have gotten a bad batch of gas that caused this?

Im kind of leaning towards the MAF being at fault, just because I know its already faulty. Still hard to see in my mind how a MAF could cause misfires though...

Any help would be appreciated.

If the MAF is busted it could send a bad enough reading cause a misfire, I suppose.

Replace it and see if there's improvement.

i'd imagine it would be the computer itself. direct fire ignition systems usually never need to be tuned up. therefore, if there is a problem as such, its either the computer or a sensor. with this kind of issue, it may be the crank position sensor. MAF is hard to believe but if its in really bad shape then i guess that could be the culprit. try replacing the MAF like NTN said to see if there is a difference. there's my 2 cents.

do you have to remove the intake to replace a fuel injector on a 94 sentra 1.5

No, you have to unbolt the fuel rail from the intake manifold, pull it back, and unplug/unclip the injector from the rail. Make sure to put a little oil on the O ring of the new injector so that it goes in easy and the ring doesn't get damaged.

Not sure what it could be but this just reminds me of all the weird problems I had with my SE 2.0. Good luck with the car.
