Workin on an '00 sentra with a 1.8 car will idle ok surges a lil..wont revonly way i can get it to rev is hold my hand over the intake restricting air at the maf. the maf is new..car will die when you try to drive it an increase throttle..car will always start rite back up..you can idle it around the parking lot all day but you punch it an you only get like 1800 rpm out of it..fuel pressure and throttle body have been checked. The intake control valve plugged in or unplugged seems to have no effect on ability to rev as well. Another problem it has is it stopped charging and is now draining the battery..battery voltage at ecm seems fine when running on a good battery but I imagine the alternator is toast..yet why is the battery draining when charged an just sitting there..

Sounds like you still have a MAF issue. The car is essentially in LIMP mode. It will run enough to get you somewhere relative close. Re check the connections to the MAF. It is also possible the new MAF maybe no good.

Sounds to me like you may have an electrical short or grounding issues in some wiring around the MAF. I had the same problem with the rev issues until I replaced my MAF. It now revs freely, but won't idle when you let off gas while coming to a stop. I have a post a little ways down the page about idle issues on a 2000 GXE with 1.8 engine if that helps; also check the MAF serial numbers. I bought mine off ebay, but I matched the numbers off my old MAF to the new one before purchasing. Have you checked Intake air temp sensor? The alt. issues I have not experienced yet. Good luck I have been working on mine for weeks.

you should have the ECU relearn the idle and see what happens. When you rplace a MAF or T/B or a part that the ECU uses to set the idle it has to be relearned. The only way I know of doing this is by having a dealer put the Nissan scan tool on it (Consult II) and running the procedure. It only takes a few minutes but i am sure they will charge like an hour labor or something like that.

A very nice guy on here told me to reteach??? the idle this wayI'm not sure of the proper way to say that:-Warm up engine.-Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.-Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.-Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.-Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stopsblinking and turned ON.-Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL goes ON.-Start engine and let it idle.-Wait 20 seconds.

It fixed my car's shaking problem!!!

Wow, I didn't think that'd work that easily, but being a simple procedure, I figured it was worth a shot. Haha, glad I could help!

Ill try the relearn but, it seems like its a worse problem than a simple relearn..its doin the same thing it did before the maf was put in..and something is drawing the battery dead...plus the alternator quit..lots of problems at once...but the running issue..this is what i did last nite..with the battery charged and a charger on it...i can start the car..runs kinda ****ty sum starts others it runs fine..put it in gear runs ok...give it throttle and it dies rite out..if i feather it real fast i can get like 2000 rpms out of it...it acts like its running out of fuel but i tested the pressure and it seems fine...around 45-55 idle..the stumper of this car is it all started when the alternator died..ive checked all grounds..fuses,,etc..seems like im missing something but every sensor is putting out on my scan tool and nothing is dropping out...i dunno Im a good tech maybe all this heat is gettin to me
