2000 rpm rattle

in my 1990 240sx se at 2000 rpm there is a horiible rattle just lound enough to hear ,, people have told me it was the alternator bearings any help or info would be appriciated

Could be your heat shield...

Is the rattle coming from the alternator?

sounds more like an exhaust rattle. make sure the heat shield is secured and all the bolts are tight on the exhaust system

Definitly sounds like a heat shield to me too. Used to have the same problem with my galant.

Rip that suka off! U wont miss it at all. My heat shield before the cat was hangin by a small piece and usta annoy me crazy. Dont park on piles of leaves though... :angryfire

Its definitaly gotta be ur heat shield same problem w/ me. Mine was loose and not only were the bolts loose but I had 2 spark plugs that fell in there

hey wannabe what ever came about with this problem. did you change the altenator, or was it the heat sheild. and was it a rattle sound or one that could be felt thourghout the car?
