Hi everyone. Been reading this forum for a while now, ever since owning my Infiniti G20. Just decided to post as I just picked up my QX4 this past Sunday. Bought it from a friend for a good price. He's taken pretty good care of it as the condition is still pretty good for a 15 year old vehicle. It has 210,000 miles on there but it drives excellent. Now, on to the issue with the car...

When I turn on the AC by pressing the Auto button, it turns on and runs great and blows cold, the only issue is it blows out of the windshield defroster. No matter what I change it to, it continues to blow only from there. I've tried the heater and it does the same thing. I don't mind fixing it myself as long as I can figure out what the issue is and maybe it is just as simple as replacing a faulty part on there. Other than this, everything else on the car works great. Thanks in advance for all of the responses.

I'd start by reading the maintenance and repair manual and focus on whatever part controls the airflow to the vents.

Thanks. One of my friends I was able to contact got me started on troubleshooting. I was able to locate the part and remove it. When I took apart the actuator, I applied power directly to the motor and it would turn just fine. When I applied power to through the 3 pin connector, it is unresponsive so I assume the chip and board itself is probably bad. I was unable to find the correct part number for it so I called up the dealer and got it from them. They wanted $155 for the part but I was able to source it online for $85. I don't need it yet as I can manually adjust the vents, which frees up room to work on other things first.

If anyone is curious, the part is
