I just purchased a 2000 QX4 and the rear doors will not open. The outside handles are like a limp handshake yet the inside ones are firm.
I can hear the actuator locking and unlocking so naturally I thought someone flipped the child locks. So I removed the rubber seal from around the door and was able to flip the child lock to the opposite direction they were in; still nothing, flipped them back and still not able to open the door from the inside or outside handles.

Two fold question:

Has anyone else had this problem?

Has anyone removed the door panel from inside the truck?

I have never seen this problem on any other car I own; Toyota, Honda, Chevy...

Appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks!

Hmm, that's tough. I'd start by studying the mechanism in the FSM. Have you tried giving it a good kick or shoulder while pulling on the handle?

Thanks; yeah I've looked over the FSM diagram of the door and tried to use a wedge and lowering the shoulder while opening the handle... still stuck.
the outside handles probably jumped off the housing or clip broke (poor design in my eyes); but the fact that it wont unlock from the door clip is puzzling.

Strange as it may seem, try getting some WD-40 or flavor of your choice into the handle and latch area as best you can. Couple other members at NPORA reported this issue, and that seemed to do the trick when brute force didn't.

The rear passenger door on my Pathfinder wouldn't open and this fix worked for me. Just lift up on the handle and spray inside. I guess the mechanism gets gunked up and sticks and the WD-40 frees it up.

mine did the same crap. my issue ended up being the locking mech. was jammed inside somewhere so when i thought it was unlocked it was actually still locked. i got inside and locked the door as hard as i could. then unlocked it as hard as i could and without taking pressure off the locking mech. in the unlock position pull the door handle with your other hand. worked for me and i didn't those steps violently over and over and now the issue is gone completely. hasn't reoccurred in about a month.
