I have a 2000 Quest GXE; I got two Mercury Villager aftermarket key fobs from Ebay

and programmed them this morning. Anyway, my question is......is there a way to make the rear door "pop" open using the key fob trunk button?

I have a 2001 Nissan quest and had to have a new remote programed as well....there isn't a way to have the back hatch pop open.....theres no electric motor to close or open it That's what the program key fob fella told me. so I have a button on my fob that doesn't do anything lol.

I know on cars(I had a 2001 Maxima SE), there is a solemoid on the trunk latch that "pops" open when power is momentarily applied to it; the Quest back door has two latches. If these latches are compatible with the solenoid type, then it should be possible to adapt. I had an old Chevy Monza with a manual trunk latch which I replaced with a powered trunk latch. The only drawback is finding the main "brain" for the locks and the "panic" horn, and then finding a port that is energized by the trunk release button on the remote....
