2000 Q45 Wipers won't move to parked position

While driving in heavy snowstorm, snow built up around the windshield wiper arms to the point where the travel became limited. I pulled over and cleared away the buildup but now the wipers will not retract into the "parked" position when I turn the wipers off. What can be done to restore the park function?
