I have a problem with a 2000 nissan xterra 3.3L. I purchased this vehicle and the check engine light came on so i checked the light and got a crank sensor and knock sensor. I drove this for a little more then it quit running so i checked it and got a crank, knock and cam sensor. I went to work and tore the enging down to replace the sensors and there was no crank sensor in there so i replaced it and had to find a new connector and wired it as to the diagram. So I replaced the crank and knock sensor, put it all back togather now it will not crank. could it have made the cam sensor bad because it was cranking the vehicle with no crank sensor?

Does any have any suggestions that might help me out??

welll I always like to test stuff before tearing into an engine due to the ECU not always being very accurate. The codes it throws are more or less simple little guidelines to help you diagnose the problem. Knock sensors can be tested very easily as can the crank sensor without taking much of anything apart. Theres a writeup on here on how to test knock sensors so, look into that one.

To test the crank sensor pull off the distributor cap and make note of the dizzy rotor position. Then pull the dizzy out but leave it connected to the engine harness. Next turn the ignition to the ON position but DON'T crank or else you will have to set the engine to TDC. Lastly, remove the coil wire from the coil.

Now after all this you should be able to spin the gear on the dizzy and hear it fire the injectors, in tandem with the coil. If all you hear is the injectors and not the coil then replace the coil. If you don't hear the injectors but the coil then its most likely a fusible link or a fuse itself. If you don't hear either then its most likely the ignitor and is relatively inexpensive.

When done testing just put the dizzy back in and make sure the rotor is back in the correct position. peace.
