I purchased a 2000 Nissan Maxima about a month ago with a partial mileage display.. I bought the car from an out-of-state auction in excellent condition with the exception of brakes and rotors needing to be replaced, and of course the partial mileage display.. Need to get my car inspected here in MD, and of course they will not attempt to inspect without the mileage on display.. I have 6 days to rectify this before temporary tags expire..

Is this a "shortage issue" or does the gauge cluster need to be replaced or just a bulb?

Make sure your battery is good and alternator is charging properly

I would try pulling the cluster and cleaning up the connections with electronic cleaner
(Take the extra time to remove the kickboard panels by you feet and steering wheel to remove the cluster)
Tighten up screws on the circuit board panels that look loose spray cleaner on them
You can them make sure the screws in your dash are tight and don't rattle anymore maybe
there are a couple of utube videos on this
(I tried fixing my RPM gauge this way but it didn't work-I need to go to the junkyard)
