Needing a little advice or ideas on this one. I rebuilt my VG33E heads on my 98,000 mile engine, and my original engine started pushing oil past my rings. I was forced to replace the short block with a rebuilt one after talking with several mechanics, but my oil problem still occurs. I use about 1/2 quart every 300 miles, which is way too much. With the entire engine rebuilt, It still uses oil, but doesn't smoke, and only two cylinders per side pull oil. I have replaced the valve seals twice, replaced all the PCV hoses and also the PCV valve. The spark plugs burn white and clean in the middle, but has a little oil around the outside on maybe three to four cylinders. The engine runs perfect and pulls a travel trailer now after being broken in, but still uses oil. There is a little pooling of oil in a couple cylinders on top of the piston head top. I love this truck, but I am beside myself on this one. I have rebuilt several Chevy V-8's and raced cars back in the days, but these Nissan's are very temperamental. I have even replaced the dipstick oil ring. Why am I getting so much gas pressure in my crank case? It could be the rings, but it did it on two engines. I do still have the original block, but really don't want to pull this engine again. Anyone have any logical ideas??? NO, I have NOT done a compression check on the rings yet because of the pooling. Could I have missed something??? The engine is from a 1999 Pathfinder.
