Hello all,
I just took possession of a 1969 2000. Someone has removed the muffler and there is a wee "glass pack" style muffler (at least I'm assuming that's what it is. I don't think they had catalytic converters in 69 did they?). What's there is about twice the diameter of the tailpipe per se, and about 2 feet long. It's way too loud -- now that I'm not a teen anymore or on a track. Can I just have some local muffler shop weld a muffler in for me? The car is in about B+ shape and will be a "daily driver" a good bit, and not a show car. Is there any reason to believe I need an OEM muffler and pipes to preserve dollar value? Personally, just guessing, I doubt it, but I'm just getting use to this classic car ownership type of thing. So any opinions gratefully accepted. Thanks.
