2000 maxima wont start

hey guys new to the fourm and i just bought a 2000 maxima and it wont start its got a new computer in it.... and just wondering if you guys have any ideas i could check to see if i can get it started before the bad weather hits

the guy i bought it off of said his mechanic said he thinks its tripping the anti theft

so if you can all help me that would be great thanks

Does it crank over but wont fire? That's one of the symptoms of the anti-theft system not recognizing the key chip.

Most state laws required passing SMOG check before transfer of ownership. Maybe be different for Ontario.

Cars equipped with NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System) requires NATS keys whose NATS IDs are stored in the NATS IMMU (Immobilizer Unit in the Ignition Cylinder) and ECM (Engine Control Module). If the 'computer' (ECM) has been replaced, then there will be a mismatch between NATS key and ECM stored data. So a NATS malfuntction is detected, preventing starting of the car.

If the Security light remains ON after switching Ignition to ON, you have a problem with the NATS. This will require reprogramming at the dealership. Bring all the ALL the NATS key that you have during reprogramming. Cost is @ $150 depending on location/dealership.

You might as well have the car scanned for any trouble code..

If it has a new computer, you probably need to get the keys programmed.
