Hello, I own a 2000 Maxima SE with 94k on it.Background replaced the starter at 87k & Napa air filter 89k. Soon after this my Service Engine light has came on. My repair shop has replaced the Knock sensor. Put some miles on the car & light came back on again with crank position sensor code, this was replaced. Shop said to run better gas in the car. I did, but light is on again with P1320 code. same as before. The SEL only comes on only at a cold start & also my Traction Control comes on with the slip indicator light. When this is on the TCS does not work. But when I shut the car off & it's warmed up & restart it the the TCS is off. But the SEL is on.

What I have read I need all 6 ignition coils. I think ???

To install the coils, I should put the Permatex Dielectric grease on the inside plug boot & on the ceramic part of the plug. What about the top part of the spark plug ??Also should I put any Dielectric grease on the spark plug socket that connects to each of the coils ?

Were should I buy the coil packs ?? I seen a supplier on ebay call FCP Groton they have them for 55 each made by Hitachi & also another ebayer called golf6daysaweek that has factory Nissan parts for $ 49

Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks

Hey there and Welcome to Nico!

A P1320 (Ignition Signal Primary) is usually indicative of tired and worn out coils. The best resolution to this is to replace them all at the same time. I would strongly advise replacing them with OE components.

I am curious about the service history of your car, any decent technician should know that a knock sensor code will not set a CEL.

Just as a side note the traction control light will come on in conjunction with the CEL, an engine signal code. This code will set when there is an interruption in communication and the received is not what is should be. Replacing the coils will more than likely resolve this issue.

As for dielectric grease, you really do not need too much. A small amount goes along way. When all the components are pressed together the gap is very small and excess grease is just wasted around the edges of the boot.

Hopefully this is a simple resolution to a potentially in depth concern. Keep in mind I am just going off the original description.
