My 2000 Maxima SE Automatic Trans will intermitantly slip into neutral at highway speeds after running for 45min to an hour. Actually I think it is going into first gear as it will drive in first gear after slowing down. Usually if I turn the ignition off and restart, it will shift as normal and I can continue on, usually without incident. If I do not turn off the ignition, I can only drive in first gear. The problem first only happened once every six months or so, but is now happening more often and I don't want the reprocussions of the "boss" having to walk home when it fails Is this indicative of a sensor failure, or a transmission control computer malfunction? If so, where are these units located and how do I test them?
