I have a 2000 Maxima that is overheating. I have replaced the thermostat and the new coolant is a 50/50 mix. Both electric fans are working ok. The fans also seem to be running for a very long time before shutting off. When getting air bubbles out of new coolant, found temperature was at 200-205 F with cap off. No oil or gunt in old radiator coolant. What can be causing this overheating problem.

It's possible you have air pockets in the system. Warm the car up to operating temperature with the radiator cap off and top off as needed. It may take up to 30 mins for all the air bubbles to dissipate while you top it off. Before you put the cap back on and shut the car off, give it a few good revs close to WOT to force out any air still trapped.

Tried bleeding air out with cap off for about 1 1/2 hours. Now when I drive about 15 miles on the street it overheats. Turning off A/C brings the temperature back to normal. All of the sensors appear to be working ok because the electric fans will turn on and off by themselves. Have a mixture of 50/50 of green coolant and water in radiator. All of the air appears to be out of the cooling system, but it still overheats. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

maybe ur radiator cap is bad. ur cooling system builds up a lot of pressure. this causes heat. to relieve the pressure, most radiator caps come with a vacuum valve that send hot coolant to a coolant recovery tank. this relieves pressure on the system and in return lowers the overall temperature. if ur vacuum valve is stuck closed this could be ur problem. just replace the radiator cap and get a radiator cap with a higher psi rating. this will further retard the boiling point of ur coolant too. hope it works.

I just replaced the radiator and the overheating problem is resolved. It looks like the coolant wasn't flowing from the old radiator so that the coolant in the engine just kept getting hotter and hotter. Now the thermostat reads 180 max, fans turn off after a couple of minutes and while parked with A/C running thermostat was at 160. All is well. Thanks for all responses.
