I have a 2000 Maxima with 190,000 miles. I'm having a problem with intermittent starts. When it starts it runs fine but once you turn it off there's not guarantee that it will start back up. If you disconnect the ecu and wait for about 10 - 20 secs and reconnect the ecu, and wait about 10 more secs it will start up with no problem.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? I'm guessing the idle control valve needs to be replaced but I'm not certain that's the problem. The Check Engine Light just came on recently.

Have you had the Check Engine light scanned?

Agree, as per above, let us know the trouble code. And make sure you don't have a short with the Idle Air Control Valve stepper motor. Clean the connector of the ECU with zero-residue contact cleaner then put dielectric grease on the pins-sockets.
