Hello,

So, I have a 2000 Maxima that is giving me issues with the heat. The car is warmed up, and when I move the temperature selector to the warm setting, the temperature does not change. I don't hear any noises like a blender door moving or anything (like I hear if I push the recycled air button) I just continue to get cold air.

I'm not really sure where I should start to look.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi and welcome to NICO Club!

Well, I can't always hear those motors moving mixing doors, but sometimes I can. Maybe try some settings while the engine isn't running to be sure. It's possible that you might be able to see some of the levers that move the doors if you look up under the dash. You're heater core could be plugged with gunk, causing no flow for the coolant and therefore no heat. Or, your door isn't moving to allow air to go through the heater core. That could be a bad motor or the control unit failing (my control unit failed on my 1995 240sx). You can fiddle around with visual diagnoses I think, or you can see what the FSM says about proceeding. Here's a link to the FSM chapters if you're interested. The FWD is the foreward chapter and will have a table of contents. You probably want the HA chapter. Please let us know how it goes and if you have further questions.

Personally, I love a good working heater!

Thanks centralcoaster33, I appreciate the welcome. I think that I have narrowed the issue down to the motor. I know that the door is not moving when I move the temperature control. I want to check, one more time, the voltage/ohms at the plug before I try to track down a motor. Looks like its going to be a ton of fun to change out. Not that it is too difficult in theory, I just can't figure out how to twist my body to get in there to work on it. It's still warm here so the heater isn't critical at the moment. I just would like to get it done and out of the way.

Thanks again, and i'll post what i find out.

Well, it could be the motor, it could be the switch, or it could be the wires between (continuity, ground, power). Good luck and I'll check back when you post your findings.
