Hi

New to posting but have been lurking for years. Great forum. You guys have helped many times. Im basically looking for advice. Actually, looking for someone to say that really is not that bad.

Dropped the pan and tested the solenoids but only two solenoids are clicking when tested with a power probe. I plan on ordering a new set of solenoids however after seeing all the metal in the pan I'm not sure I should go for the money. Do you think it's worth fixing the solenoids with this amount of metal is in the pan? the car has 130,000

Damn, that is a good bit of metal. What are those black things in the pan?
Really the only things that would prevent you from getting into 3rd or 4th are blown seals on one of the actuators, or bad solenoids.
Its definitely worth a shot replacing the solenoids. If you have that much metal in the pan, its certainly possible some of it made its way into the solenoids, preventing them from functioning properly.

The black things are the magnets. Update: changed the solinoids but no help. The last thing I can try is the TCM. After that I'm lost.

There's also some springs/accumulators/check balls in there that could be bad or have some blockage going to them. If the TCM doesn't work, the trans will have to come out.

It would be good if you could borrow/try a known good one :(
Too bad I30s aren't THAT popular.
