front speaker(driver's side) is not working. any idea to fix it? Or, how to check it before going to mechanics.

I30 has the stock Bose, right...? The Bose amp could be dead...

Is it dead all the time, with all sources-- both AM/FM and CD?

if you blew your amp then none of your speakers would work. take your door trim off and pull our your speaker. tap the cone to see if its blown the speaker may have just fried itself. how do all the other speakers sound?

the other speakers are very good working condition. what if i swich the amp right to left and see whether it works or not. is it right to find out amp is wrong or speaker wrong?

My 2 cents: If you hit a brick wall with finding speakers/component parts, you might try a parts.com type of place or even go to a salvage yard (specifically import yard if you have one convenient). They usually pull electronics out of cars and keep them inside for sale - pretty cheap most times, too. (Parts.com has set prices, but you can usually bargain at a salvage yard.)

I am having a similar problem with my sub in my 01 I30. It was coming and going for a while but now it is just gone. I haven't removed it to check the cone but I guess that is my next step. My fear is that it is a wire shorting out somewhere.
