I was wondering if anyone has built a stealthbox type for the i30, i need my trunk space but dont want to get rid of my sub. its a 12w3 v1.

I like the stealthbox that JL makes but they dont make one for the i30

Anyone?

yeah you want to go with something like that. When you face the subs into the cabin you lose bass. Having the subs face the rear reflects the sound waves back into the cabin and they resonate in the front. When you have the speaker face the front they bounce off the front of the cabin and resonate in the rear so it doesnt sound as good to you being in the front. Also you dont need to get all crazy with a custom fabricated box w/ a beauty board, if you want to save space just get a single box for whatever size speaker you use.

and with a little extra cash and time you can dynamat your trunk so no more rattle...and in my opinion if you car is rattling to pieces your bass is to loud anyway. I got one JL w6v2 tuned so perfect that nothing rattles and the bass is amazing

I just followed the guidelines in the following link for my buddys car and figured most of it out on my own.

Make sure you have more essential beverages handy though, its a pain in the ***.

Not bad for my first attempt, ran out of carpet for the "back" Ive tried facing it both ways and it sounds way better in this pic than it does facing into the cabin. i may need to make ths box a little smaller, it takes up a lot of room still

what do you guys think about fiberglassing them? the audio store I ask for my questions told me that seals it up and makes it sound a lot better. Just go to home depot, buy some resin and hardner and it's not really hard to do. Helped a friend with his and you can still carpet it afterwards.

It is taking up alot of room because the wood that is sticking out is supposed to go over that hump that leads into the cabin. That is why we made it that way.

I might be turning mine around here soon if my wires allow for the room.

Good work.

You use spray on glue and just cut out pieces like a jig saw puzzle. that is how me and matt did mine.

How does it sound? I just bought a 12W6 and am thinking about designing a box that will fit in the spare wheel well and having a faux floor and cutting the trunk liner so that it is all still usable.

it sounds good, I had to turn my amp up to get the sound I wanted, but its a smaller box and still sounds good. plus i get the room i want.

I dont know how a sub in the wheel well would sound, but try it out, let me know if you need help figuring out the box size..i had to remember how to do algebra and geometry to build my box...both times.

it was a fun
