When the car has been sitting overnight or while I am at work I go to start it and then it happens. The rpm will go up to about 1500 like they should but then they drop real quick and the car stalls. This will happens everytime I try and start it unless I hold the gas down and have the rpms up to about 2500 until the car get warmed up. Then I don't have a problem all day while driving it. This is only happe when it has been sitting for a good while. ANy help would be appreciated.

ThanksAdam

Welcome to NICO.

Do you get a SES (service engine soon) light? It could be a problem with the ingnition coils. The 00-01 coils have a TSB (technical service bulletin) out on them. If you do a search for archived content, you should be able to find quite a few threads on the subject matter.

not sure if it's entirely related, but when my buick used to do that, it was because of an egr valve acting up. Not sure how you would go about checking that, but it could be the problem.

Here's a thread regarding the ignition coils.zerothread?id=139155

It could be so many different things causing this, I would just wait until the SES light comes back on. Get the code, and go from there.
