Hi Guys!I just wanted to know if anyone has used "universal" (clip the wires and hook up a generic connector) O2 sensors with success. The OEM ones are much more expensive.

Thanks!Brit

replaced an one wire unheated o2 in my 240sx with the universal one with no issues. but then again it was simple and easy, plus i was super cheap. about to change one of my o2's in my 01 max, probably gonna use the universal one, its like $50 cheaper. if i get to it before you ill let you know.

For as long as you know how to splice wires, it should be Ok. However, you must know which type of O2 sensor you have. Infiniti/Nissan uses a a mix of 3-wire (Power, Signal & Ground) and 4-wire (Power, Signal, Ground and dedicated signal ground) heated O2 sensors. An O2 sensor adapter (special socket @ $10) will definitely help as well as WD-40/PB blaster.

I recommend sticking with a direct fit just to be safe. My .02

replaced the HO2S2 bank one with a universal Borg Warner one off ebay for $24 (yea, im cheap.) kept getting the same code, P0140: o2 sensor no activity. got this code after driving thru a huge puddle after a rain storm. reset it a couple times, but kept coming back on, so i assumed it shorted out. have driven around for a couple of days now; no light has been triggered. hopefully doesnt happen again. my light usually got trigger after only a few miles after reseting it but its looking good so far.

also, this one has three zip tied locations which are a pain to cut, so after the new one was installed, i just ziptied it in two spots near the top of the motor.
