I was able to reset our 99 I30 AIR BAG light using the procedure below. The manual calls for opening the driver side only but in our case, I have to open both front doors before the light went off.
-Open driver-side door and locate the door switch (with rubber cover, close to the base of the door frame).
-Turn Ignition Switch to ON and then immediately depress the Door Switch 5 times or more within 7 seconds.
-Switch Ignition to OFF.
-Wait 1 second or more and then start the car
-Repeat the above step as necessary to reset the light.
If the procedure did not work, you have a hard fault or a problem that cannot be erased. In that case, additional diagnostic is needed to identify which module is defective. There are shops over the internet offering repair of air bag control module. I don't know how reliable these companies are. DO NOT USE MULTIMETER TO TEST AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE CONNECTIONS.
