I'm a new poster so go easy, please. Also, a DYS'er if I can figure things out.The local Checker store will let you use their OB11 scan tool and code 135 is the readout (Bank1, Sensor 1 needs replacement).I've looked over the messages and the posted diagrams and am still wondering where exactly this sensor is. (I would like to replace the right one,of course!!)When I open the hood, there is one sensor right at the front, under the engine oil stick(blue wire)From under the car, another looks to be going straight into the cat.(I believe its the cat). Sensor is pointing to the front of the car and has a white wire covering. Another is just above and sensor points up with red wire to it.Back one is closer to the firewall. Has a black wire and looks accessible from the wheel well.(My guess on being the right one)Pretty easy for you guys, I'm sure!!I own a 97 I30 w/125,000 and this 2000 I30 w/122,000. Have had them both since around 25,000. Very few problems except these darn oxy. sensors. The dealer gets around $250-$300 each time I bring it in and I've had enough!!They like to suggest that the computer may need to be reprogramed if I do it myself. I think that's to keep me writing a check!!Would appreciate your help------

Have you ever considered what todays gasoline is doing to the sensitive sensors.

Obvious our witches brew comes nowhere close to the real product used to design these sensors.........thus they fail early.

Alcohol combustion byproducts and changes in the olefin/aromatic mix to reduce distilling costs to the bone.....pushing the distillation catalyst to the failure point.........to save a penny.

$300 saved [deferred] by longer O2 sensor life could buy [6,000 gallons ~~60,000 miles worth] real gasoline at 5 cents more per gallon.

Just a case of shifting the cost to driver/buyer of their product.

Bank 1 is whatever bank cylinder 1 is on. On the RWD cars it's the driver's side. I'd guess FWD carries the same relationship to the crank but I'm not sure. Sensor 1 is the sensor before the cat; sensor 2 is the one after the cat. No programming required that I know of. You can always reset the computer by disconnecting the battery overnight.

Brands have very little to do with gasoline quality other than what cleaning additives [detergents] might be added in microscopic quanties for brand differentiation.

The question you must ask is which refinery on which day/hour and how much it got blended with other refinery junk loads in the tank farm.......fungible gasoline.................does each marketing brand have their own tanks at the farm not very often.
