2000 I 30 running rough

I have a 2000 I 30 that is running rough at times and at times has no power it has 160k on it but has been serviced regularly. It has had the usual check engine light. Usually my dealer would disconnect the battery and it would be ok for a while now it has all the symptoms of a MAF or coil pack problems I replaced the plugs this did not help I was told if I replace the MAF sensor that I would have to have the computer reprogramed is this true or do you have any other ideas Thanks Philip
