we've had a knocking hanging out for a few months now, usually only when going up hills. today it started running really really rough, and was able to open the radiator cap while the engine was running and well over temp, and coolant wasnt flowing, and squeezing the upper hose didnt change the level of coolant what so ever. found out the hose to above the transmission is leaking, so when we filled it today, it leaked out that hole, only emptying the hose. so i'm leaning towards the pump is toast. there is a knocking down by where the pump is, especially when you pump the throttle even a little. if anyone has another idea please chime in, i'm going at this tomorrow as this car needs to be back on the road asap
my ultimate question is, and yes i used the search button for 2 hours and couldnt find exactly what i want to know. what does it take to change the water pump...
remove coolant tank
remove engine mount
unbolt pump/hoses and remove
is that it??? is there any tricks to getting it with its pulley through the tight hole between it and the wheel well?
