Ok, here is what happened, it doesnt seem to be shifting right into 2nd gear, if it does it is a very hard shift. I pulled into a walmart parking lot and put it in 2nd (again atx not mtx) and it just revved and then shifted into it very hard, but the weird part is my cigarette lighter plug (nothing was in it) sparked two times. Does the 2000 G20 ATX have an electric shifter or something that could be the root of the problem, or am I screwed? I just recently (last week) had to put an engine in it and new radiator and new MAF sensor, so I'm broke on this car. I need help! thanks

How did original engine fail? If the original engine overheated, it sometimes causes the transmission to overheat also and destroys it.

yeah it was from overheating. I just thought it was weird that the power outlet sparked when I pressed in the gear shifter clutch (or whatever its called). However I found the cause of the problem. My brand new radiator has a loose pipe fitting where the short hose of the transmission connects causing the fluid to leak out. So I hope and pray that this is the only problem. However it still doesnt explain the sparks? thanks
