2000 G20 125k miles. $5k. Good deal?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi, I am hoping someone could help me with this. There is a G20 that I am looking at from a dealer that is selling for $5k and has 125k miles. Is that a good deal? According to KBB it is, but maybe one of you would say otherwise.

This would be my first car. What kind of mechanical parts would I have to worry about going wrong on me at this point? I should take it to an independent mechanic even if it is being sold at a dealer, right?

Thanks for any info!

Mechanically there's nothing major to worry about, even at that mileage. It may be a good idea to have a mechanic check the timing chain on top of a general once-over. It should be fine, but at that high of mileage it's possible that it could show wear. As long as the title is clean, servicing has been regular and timely, and the previous owner didn't beat the crap out of it, you're good to go.

As for price, try to talk them down closer to $4k. I've seen 2000's with 150,000mi go for $3k, but it depends on options and stuff too.

Auto or stick?

Yep, auto or stick? $5k isn't bad, doesn't the 00 have the LSD transmission?

The '00 G does, only if it's a manual and a Touring model though.
