Once again, 2000 Altima GXE. Last one:

?A "clunk" when I engage the clutch (right at the sweet spot). Most definitely coming from infront of the driver's postion. Less frequent once the vehicle is driven for about 5 minutes. Also,in cold weather, there is a similar but louder clunk when the engine is loaded (i.e. clutchengaged, or throttle abruptly applied and released). This also disappears after car is driven for abit. Had 2 of 4 engine moutns replaced (the large one for the engine of the passenger side, andthe one towards the rear of the vehicle). Dealer said other two were fine. Anything other thanengine mounts that could cause clunking when the clutch is engaged, or engine otherwiseloaded, but only when car is cold? I looked all around for signs of scratched/scuffed parts that might indicate contact, but no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Is it possible that a mount may look good, but still be damaged?

Also, anything in the clutch mechanism (throw out bearing, presure plate, etc.) that may be jolted by engaging, thereby causing the noise?

I guess I'm just wondering how the mounts are affected by temperature in the engine compartment (when the engine is warm, do the mounts get softer and more pliable).
