Hi all,

I posted on the main page about needing help with changing the starter on my wife's Sentra. I read the FSM and feel comfortable with changing it out once I figure out the best way to get to it. Is it accessible from the top, or do I need to put it up on jack stands? Has anyone else done this? Just trying to get a good feel for it before I get into it and then try to figure it out as I go. Thanks in advance or any advice.

Rusty

jack the car up as far as possible, throw some jack stands up under it and access with removing it will be better from the bottom. you will also have to have access from the top, which means removing the intake to gain access to the two bolts that hold the starter in place. there will be a braced on the back side of the intake manifold, that will make it easier to maneuver the starter out from underneath and to unhook the ground and power wire. the bracket should have three 10mm/12mm bolts holding it on. make sure you unhook the battery as well so you don't ground anything out. you may need someone to line up the starter bolts when you put the new starter back in, because you will have to hold it from underneath.
