i was in a bit of a hurry when i posted this (as i was leaving work) but i wanted to say that this indeed made me sad, and very angry but mostly very sleepy. This makes the same point as i have been saying for years, you should have to be a certain age before your allowed to drive certain cars. like me, i would not be allowed to drive a Ferrari until im 40.

A kid who thought that he was invincible in his GT-R, go figure.

One thing I have noticed with mine, though. When I got mine, I took it very easy for the first couple months. Recently, I have noticed that I have started doing things I wouldn't have done in any of my other cars. I have caught myself on the highway going through corners at speeds I shouldn't even be near.

It does that to you, though. Gives you that sense of security because, hey, you're in a GT-R.

Yeah, it's a GT-R, but just like everything, it has it's limits.

Takes a bit of restraint to pull youself back into reality and drive normally before losing control.

As much as I can say that dude deserved to have crashed his car for being lame, I do hope is ok.

even so, spirit driving is expected however driving at night with little illumination at high speeds and being a crap driver is a recipe for disaster

Especially when that particular night the ground was soaking wet. Doesn't matter if you have AWD, it's only as good as you let it. Traction is still an issue.

there should be a law stating that anyone under the age of 21 is not allowed to drive a car worth more than $30k or something...

I got my license when i was 16 but my first car I had was a 97 Kia Sephia... I had that all the way through most of college until I was 19. Any kid under 21 shouldn't be allowed a car worth more than 10K cause 30K you can still get a pretty bad *** car.

I dont agree with this. You can take any car and make it go faster no matter the price. It should be harder to get your license. The driving test is BS. This kid was just stupid as well as his parents. That looks like fun but you better know what you doing let alone know that road like the back of your hand especially driving at night.

I am definitely in favored of a tiered system like the Aussies and British. Make someone earn a "P-license" before they can roll a powerful car.

My plan would have a few main points to it to increase road safety. one of the things about the military that bugged me was the way everyone was punished for the activities of a few, a lot of proposed legislation smacks of that same attitude. Here are my ideas.

Tiered licensing.People would be restricted in what vehicles they could operate. A cap would be put on power level and size and the only way to gain access to bigger and more powerful vehicles would be.1. time behind the wheel in a lower tier vehicle.2. extended training on higher tiered vehicles.3. what and how many violations you have racked up.4. retake the driving test in the vehicle to prove you can handle it.

I think certain citations should result in immediate downgrade of your tier, reckless driving would be one. After a period of time you would need to retest to gain your tier back. During that time the upper tier vehicle would have to be parked.

Don't think kids with money and no skills should be wrapping powerful cars around trees? Neither do I; with this system they would have to earn the right to drive such vehicles. Those that demonstrate the maturity and good sense to stay off the blotter for a year or whatever the period is determined to be, get road time under their belt and take the inititive to take the advanced training will be rewarded with their upper tier license and are not only more seasoned and thus less likely to be a danger but will appreciate the privelage because they truly earned it.

Tired of yuppie soccer moms in Escalades running you off the road and taking 27 minutes to park the monster, poorly; this takes care of that too. Little rich girl will need to learn to drive her monster truck first, stay out of trouble and prove she can operate the thing.Little princess can't stay out of the go pedal or off her cell phone and she won't be allowed behind the wheel of the beast and the rest of us won't have to deal with her.

I am big on civil liberties but I am not opposed to making people prove they can handle whatever they are trying to get, be it a car, a bike, a gun, a spouse or a child. Driving is a prevelage and i think it is too easy to gain that privelage.

I can't believe people still drive on GMR... nowadays, you have 2 options of outcome: either on a tow truck due to a crash, or a tow truck due to cops.

I agree with you 100% TMS, I also think that Drivers Ed should be focused on more in highschool, Too many young drivers kill themselves every year and I dont want one to kill me or my loved ones. I also believe it should be mandatory to drive a manual transmission to pass your liscense test.

i agree with everyone just about, your first car shouldnt really be a piece but it should be pretty cheap,im a mechanic for a living and a few weeks ago i got a 68 mustang come into my garage and i rebuilt the motor completely on it(original motor) and did new brakes all the way around(4-wheel drum) the car is matching numbers mint condition perfect shape and although an inline 6 still nonetheless the guy bought it for his 17 daughter for a daily driver and he comes in yesterday to tell me how good its running and that the second day his daughter got it back she backed out of the driveway to go to school and hit her dads truck are you kidding i want to kill her, although im not a mustang guy thats rediculous
