Just wanted to know what is involved in putting 20's onto my 1995 Maxima SE. Will they just srcub like mad? Or can it be done???

Let me know the specifics like offset and tire size, spacers, that you need if this can be done. Need some experienced advice from the maxima VET's.

Thanks guys and if they can go on, will i be able to lower it without cutting out wheel wells?

i saw an ad on craigslist with some dude that was sellin 20 inch spinners that came off his maxima. supposedly they didnt rub or anything. i dont think he had it lowered but he had a 5th generation. im not sure about yours but even if you could get them on my guess is that they would definatly rub if you lowered it.

i have 18's with 245 45 tires. they fit perfectly. So i guess you can get 20' with 245 35 tires. use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I've seen multiple max's with 20's with no problems other than the tires being soooo low profile that they keep bending rims. In my opinion, never really liked anything over a 19 on a 4th gen, they make the max look like it's a 4x4! But you do what you gotta do!

LoL, oh im doin what i gotta do haha, the only reason im considering this is because i need new tires for a safety and i can get these 20's for a cheaper price than just replacing tires! this girl i know is selling all of her ex's stuff becuz he booked down south on her for a job and left some goods behind haha Dont worry tho, im not looting on his stuff, hees a wealthy guy that left the stuff for her

ROLLIN ON TWENTIES, cant top that... or maybe its stop that.. i dunno but ill be playing that song all day when i get them on

You might be able to... but your tires would have to be pretty small for sure... and IMHO that would look SOOOOOO bad... get 18s at the biggest on the Maxi

20's will work, but you would be rockin rubber bands for tires. That means 2 things.

1) you will need to wear a kidney belt when driving 2) you will bend rims like no other

Im pretty sure if you would not be able to use spacers as they would just push the wheels out further and cause rubbing issues. If you plan on only driving in straight lines then you could add them i suppose.

You should check out the tire/suspension forum at nico. They have some pretty awesome tire gurus over there.

good luck

I had 17x7s on my I30 (4th gen) and they rubbed the plastic wheel well a little.

The issue here is more about the width of the wheels than the height. If you can get some 20x7s then hey, go for it. I'll just be cursing you and wanting to kill you for making a sexy car ugly.

If they are 20x8.5, then you'll probably be having issues. I'd also totally recommend against dropping your 4th gen and running on Dubs. The ride will be beyond unpleasant. My I30 sitting on the Eibach/Illumina setup with 17s and 224/45s was probably at the limit of comfort. Anything stiffer would make your balls ache.

I also just recently came across a 96 Max running Chrome Dubs. One of the sidewalls shredded because of the low profile.

So all in all, you'll be running into problems. I can get you some M35 18s with nearly brand new tires for $600 + shipping, but they'd be around 1/2 an inch taller than stock.

i have 20 X 8.5 wheels on my 95. I have also added AGX KYB adjustable struts with eibach pro series spring. i have been riding like that for 2 year i havent bent a rim yet or rubbed hardly. i also have always had them wrapped with nitto 555 245/35zr20, the tires do matter. please invest in good tires and get the proper offset cause if u dont u wont like them. OH YEAH FYI i recently had 5 adults in my back seat me and my girl in the front and i rubbed but i was able to take them back to there car. the tires will tuck

King James,

You're running an overall diameter that is 1.5" larger than factory or what any sane wheel shop would install.

Tirerack recommends a 245/30/20, which means less tire to absorb shock.

"Ridding" yourself of what, a smooth riding car capable of making U-turns?

My feeling is this. Everybody will do what they want to do with their car, but when I see low-class, uninformed individuals sporting 20s in the rear and 15" steelies up front, I've got to laugh.

Who's fault was it that they lowered their car and didn't fix the camber?

Who's fault is it that they shredded a sidwall because it was too short for their use?

Who's fault is it that they're "renting-to-own" a $3000 wheel/tire setup and they can't afford new tires?

Consumers need to take some responsibility for their purchases. I lowered my I30 and burned through a pair of brand new RE930s in less than 5k miles. I didn't go blame the shop who installed it for my mistake, I just did some research and found a fix.
