Good day everyone! I wanted to ask if the 2020 Nissan Versa with 1.6 has a Trans dipstick? I do see the trans tube and the tube cap thats locked! I also have a 13 Rogue with that same locked Trans cap however there is a dip stick! Both CVT... I dont want to remove the Cap on the 2020 unless i know there is a dipstick.. I just want to see the color and level of the fluid in the 20 Versa.. Thanks so much!!

Nope, no stick. That's just a cap. It's setup for bottom-fill.

You don't. You fill it to the right level. If it leaks you fix the leak. Nissan is totally paranoid about overfilling CVT's, and rightly so. Underfilling isn't destructive until it overheats the fluid, but even a small amount of overfill will cause foaming that's very destructive very quickly. It's hard to prove when a CVT fails because of that, so ignorant DIYers could obviously cause a lot of unwarranted warranty repairs. Thus, they made it difficult on purpose. I don't blame them, and if you want to DIY, a bottom-up hand pump and four jackstands aren't much of an investment. Then you can do it right.

You can do that too, yes. We do it sometimes in a pinch, like for a few days last month when our bottom pump broke and we were awaiting a new one. We have a graduated pail for the purpose, but the best way is actually to use a translucent container and mark the level of the drained fluid with tape on the outside, then clean it out and refill to the same level. That way your refill amount will be very exact.
