That tire size has almost the same height, so the tire size is fine, but what size are the wheels???

OEM Crown Vic wheels?

Is the wheel lug pattern, offset and hub bore size, even close to being correct? (Never mind the looks! )

Crown Vics never had 20 inch wheels. He is obviously confused on the difference between wheels and tires. Somebody enlighten him...

that size you are giving is a tire size not rim size. A rim size example would be 20 x 8.5 or 20 x 9.

So if you are confusing that then the answer to your first post is no they will not fit. The tire size you have of 245/35/20 is the width, height, and rim size, respectively.

So no a tire made for a 20 inch rim will not fit the size 18 inch rim you have.

Ah! .... Based on the title of the thead, I assumed that the OP was asking if a 20" wheel (with 245/35-20 tires currently on it or something like that) could be used on the M.

If it is a matter of trying to put 245/35-20 tires on an 18" rim, the answer is that it will not work at all. The 245/35-20 tire needs a 20" wheel, with a width of about 8.5 to 9.0 inches or so - with the correct lug pattern, offset and hub bore for Nissan/Infiniti cars. So, a wheel size for this might be 20"x9", with 35mm offset (for example for a 2003 or 2004 M45).

If you currently have 235/45-18 tires, then you probably have a 2003 or 2004 M45, with 18"x7.5" wheels, and a good size tire for this would be 245/45-18. In the forum sticky threads, there are tire listings that would work for you.

In addition, here are some links to understand how tire sizes work (lots more info on tires there in other links too!):

Hope this helps,

I think you guys are blowing this out of the water. From what I understand, the guy wants to put 20s on his M. He is confused with what the difference between sizing of the tires and wheels are, it seems. We need to find out the size of the wheels he is considering and until that happens we cannot help any longer. Nobody is putting 20in tires on 18in wheels...

Wait, so he is trying to put horse shoes on his M? Sorry I had to poke fun at how messed up the thinking in this thread got.

Pretty sure he wants to put 20" rims on, and pretty sure the 20s were just on the Vic previously and are after markets.

Also pretty sure that he is clueless about what matters when it comes to fitting on our cars.

3 things you need to know next time you post so that we can help. What is the width of the rim, what is the offset of the rim, and what is the bolt pattern of the rim. Those will help us with our answer.

Now, I could be wrong but dont Ford cars have a 5X5 bolt pattern to begin with? I would be surprised to see that they use the most common(possibly only) bolt pattern for Japanese cars for the last 10 years.Oh well

Ford does have a 5bolt pattern. The new mustang(05 and up) has the same bolt pattern as the M, G35cpe, and 350z.

All cars come with a 5 bolt pattern, dont they. Also, the M, G35cpe and 350z all share the same bolt pattern with every other Japanese car, 5x114.3

Ok, I did a quick search at a random online wheel place and found that the bolt pattern is the same but the offset is 45mm, for the latest Crown Vics.So to the original poster, if these are the sizes you want to put on, then I would have to say they are probably not a good choice for your carCheers

Some smaller/older cars use 4 bolt patterns. My 1985 300ZX Turbo had a 4 bolt pattern.

Too general a statement ... I think! As I recall, some Honda models have a different size pattern.

More importantly, the hub bore can be quite different. For example, Lexus wheels will NOT fit on Nissan/Infiniti cars. If the hub bore is too small, you would need to ream it out (dangerous) and if too large, then you would need to use a centering ring or let the bolt/buts center the wheel (too much sideways pressure on them then.

1. The best thing to do is to use the OEM wheel the car came with. Spend your hard-earned money getting the best tires you can.

2. Next best thing is to use an OEM Infiniti wheel from another Infiniti model (with correct width and offset) and get the best tires you can.

3. Final thing is to buy a properly fitting wheel, designed for the specific sizes for your car, from a good reputable wheel manufacturer and get the best tires you can.

4. Anything else cannot be recommended.

P.S. Splurging on expensive after-market wheels (or even other Infiniti wheels) and then fitting crappy tires on them is the stupidest thing anyone can do ... sacrificing performance and handling for looks is silly.
