Lately, i've been regretting a bit buying the 2006 qx56 instead of the 08. I find that the front grille looks much better, and, obviously the fact that it's newer doesn't help. I should have saved up a bit more and went for an 08..but what's done is done. BTW, i still like the interior of the 06 just as much as the 08...i dont need a hard drive, but i wouldn't mind the 3rd row power folding seats...

Anyways, i decided that I can make my 06 look like an 08 (the exterior at least). The 2 biggest and most visible changes are the grille and the rims/tires. I've already got the grille done, but i was wondering, if I was to put a set of 2008 OEM rims/tires on my 2006, will it affect the suspension in any way? Is there any significant changes on the 08 that handle the 20 inch rims better, or are they basically them same and I won't feel a difference?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

From what I understand you should not have any problems with the 20's on your '06. I don't think there are any suspension differences between the years. Hopefully this helps.

thanks for replying Timmbo. It's kind of a dilemena for me, because the OEM rims and tires for the 2008 & up QX56 costs the same as custom 22-24 inch rims&tires. Makes me wonder if i should just get a custom set.

Also I wanted to let u know it is possible to put an 08 grille on a 2006 model. I had posted a thread a while back asking this, and you had posted it wasn't; but it is! I appreciate the post regardless.

Honestly, I don't see how it could possibly work, and I don't know of anyone doing it, so I would have to say no to that one.

I like the idea of putting the new grille on my 2007 QX56. In looking at photo's they look compatible - was it just a matter of swapping them out, or was there more to it?

I just swapped it last night. Swapped an 06 grille for an 08. On an 2006 qx56. Fit perfectly, as was very easy. I'm not handy 45 min.

Sorry, forgot to ask, I assume the emblem is interchangeable as well - just clips in?

Emblem should slip right in.

Shyne,

Go aftermarket all the way. You can safely do up to 26 inch custom rims and actually do a custom grille too. If you are going to spend the money, go aftermarket to make your truck stand out. I have a white 06 and just dropped 24 inch Velocity rims and plan to do a CEC aftermarket grille later.

Rim prices have dropped significantly.

Tu Shay.. aftermarket.. less expensive and unique look... make it your own yo...

I know my peeps who are rollin on 26's and they look nice but it does ride a lil rough versus stock. I went with the 22's more rubber cuz I like to drive hard and able to drift without worryin bout scrapn the rims...

I was on the same page. the 20's stock would be nice, but they still look the same and I too like the 08 09 grill, but aftermarket grills are more attractive and unique.
