Hello folks,
I posted this in the regional forums last week but there doesn't seem to be much traffic there. There are some people from south Florida on the boards so I wanted to spread the word that Homestead-Miami Speedway is hosting an event on May 17 and 18 where you can get your car washed (optional) and take it for a lap around the NASCAR oval on a paced lap for $20 (additional laps are $10). All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, and Driving for a Cause. I don't have any affiliation with the track nor the involved charities but I think that it will be a fun opportunity to drive on the track's 20 degree banking. They'll be hosting their 1/8th mile drag races down pit road as well on Friday, May 17. I'll likely be out on Saturday though, along with my brother and his S15 and at least one other car. I hope to see some fellow NiCOnauts there!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Got some pictures; we had to resort to cell phones due to forgetting to bring a real camera. I've also got a video; I received the clips via text message so they are really low quality but I'm hoping on getting the full video soon. I had a great time, we went for three laps and averaged about 90-100 mph although it looks like we were barely moving in the video. The first time on the banking was somewhat intimidating since we were still getting up to speed out of the pits (took me a lot longer to get up to speed than the GT500 pace car that we were following, that's for sure). There was a pretty good turnout and I'll likely do it again next year. Anyhow, on to some pics.
