well, 100 miles short of 20,000 on my V and i was wondering if theres anything i should do to it now, tune up, or anything like that. my biggest worry right now is that after i warm up the car drive a mile or so, every time im come to a stop i here something squeaking in the engine, as if 2 plastic pieces were rubbing together. kinda like when you pull up next to an older car and u hear a squeak and whistling sound coming from the engine, another problem is that the car sometimes idles high and something under the hood turns on sounds like a vacuum, and sometimes it idles too low and the car shakes... anyone got any idea whats wrong with my baby?!

I get the Vaccum sound when the A/C is on, and thats normal, other than that no clue, but my car is to hit 16k soon and after a 6k trip in 8 days all Interstate driving, I hear clicking noise in my engine while idle, and as I press the gas the clicking noise gets more intense and then goes away at like 3k rpm or more. I heard the noise when I first got the car, but it wasnt as loud as after the trip. I have used only Premium 93+ octane gas. Sorry for jumping in your post.

Assuming you are keeping up with oil changes and tire rotations, the only legitimate thing from a maintenance standpoint would be an air filter and air cabin filter (assuming these haven't been done yet). Do both of these yourself, and you will save enough for about two tanks of gas( based on what the dealership overcharges) , and it will take you all of 15-20 minutes. There have been some informative threads on this forum that explains the steps to replace the air filters.

The "vacuum noise" and rough idle could be something as simple as the electric fan kicking on due to hot weather and running your A/C. Not knowing how loud the noise is and how rough the idle is, it is hard to judge on-line. If it seems serious enough, consider a trip to the dealership, it is still under warranty. While you are there, stop in at the parts counter and get your two air filters.
