The alternator on my EARLY '94 Max went out today. I'm pricing some and of course there are the cheepies and the $200+ ones. I wont spend $200 for an alternator now, in fact i want one the will probably last at least 2-21/2 yrs, with a new battery installation now too. Anybody bought a cheepie that has lasted them a while?

I'll probably need to learn how to install this one myself too to save some money, any links to a good diy thread would be great. I read there were several nissan service bullitins concerning trouble shooting and installing new alt to make sure it works well...anyone know what this refers too??

sohc, Gxe, me...novice w/ basic sears tool set and some weekend time. You guys have helped me b4 and i'm sure you'll do the same again, Thnx.

I spent 220 for my 240's alternator. It was new, and came with a lifetime warranty. look for those, other reman stuff might not be up to snuff with them not replacing all the insides. Hence why I said "new".

dont go to advance or auto zone. try to find a local alternator rebuilder. they seem to do a better job.
