So for awhile I've been wanting and getting ready for the military but had always been held back due to fines in Sacramento County. So I decided it was time to get more serious about my life and proceeded to go and sell my last 240sx.I couldn't find any buyer for the whole car so that left me with only 1 other option. Part out the car. So I decided to part it out and figured I'd use the money to pay off my fines, keep some money and save up. I sold everything except my SR and Blitz exhaust. Then once I was stationed somewhere I would go and buy another 240sx. However I had been talking about for awhile of buying a 2 tone coupe...Well after I parted out the hatch and had payed off my fine I was left with about $2K. Well posted on Craigslist for about 10 hours was this '89 2 tone coupe from Nevada City, CA for $500 with an automatic transmission and blown headgasket. I immediately figured that it had already been sold but i called anyways and sure enough I was the 1st eprson who actually had the time to check it out before the weekend. i went up there from Sacramento and checked it out...I gave the sellers $500 right there. I came back the next night and got my new 240sx.

I then used the other $1500 to buy an extra red 240sx parts car with a spun rod SR. It's where I got my 5 speed conversion parts, 1 piece driveshaft, Tein super drift coilovers, Tein TC rods, Greddy lightweight pulleys, FMIC, S14 T28, SS Turbo lines, Megan exhaust manifold and DOHC ps lines for the coupe.I pulled the motor and through in my SR20DET from my last car and got it running within a few days. Originally there was rodent crap all over the motorbay...and I mreally do mean ALOTTT!!! Well it was rats or mice...it turned out to be Squirrels crap. While I was taking off the stock exhaust i heard a rattling sound by the cat. As I tilted the exhaust somewhere between 30-45 nuts feel out. Anyone who lives in California knows how crappy it is to deal with Smog laws and California Ref!! So i have family out of state so I had it registered in the Land of Lincoln...Illinois!!Well Illinois DMV hadn't finished filing all the paperwork in their DMV computer systems so one night on my way home ig ot pulled over and had my car towed. I was originally pulled over because evidently the fuse on my running lights was blown so I had brake, turn, reverse lights but no parking/running lights. But because it hasn't been finalized into the DMV the cop explained that it hasn't been registered yet. My argument was that everyone knows DMV isn't the fastest place, registration has nothing to do with it not being registered, I was insuring and paying for a stolen car, that I had committed a federal crime and forged IL license paltes!?!? So i go down to the tow yard and explain the situation and they let me get my car out...$325.71 later that is. I also notice that while in there my car key isn't hanging on the wall like the rest of everyone elses keys. it's also not in the car, for some reason still in the towman's truck who had towed my car 2 nights before when the Sheriff had it towed. Just me, but I definitely felt alil weird about that situation. But I definitely have alot more plans and pics to come. My car currently has the stock pignose front bumper and lip on. I should also be getting my new rims and kit within the next month or 2. I'll update when able to and should be headed to MEPS by the end of the month. But in the mean time enjoy the thread for what it's worth. s***!!

It really depends on the branch, area, and your situation. My fiancee was stationed at Norfolk Naval Base, and at 8 years in she was pulling in a little over 40k/year as an E-6. That was base pay, BAH, sea duty, etc.

As an 0-1 under 2, I'm looking at almost 30k/year before I add in allowances. And an E-5 isn't far behind an O-1 according to the pay charts.

Ok that may be the worst advice I have ever heard. What you described is called BAH Fraud. A guy at my last command got caught doing the exact thing you just described and is still trying to pay every penny back. The gov't takes that VERY seriously.

I'm planning to go Navy and hopefully be a Seabee. I don't know which job in specific I want but i thought about metal worker, electrician or heavy machinery operator. But I think it'll be fun and help keep me walking a straight line as well.

My vote goes for EM. It's what I would do if I enlisted with the Navy.

EM is electrician's mate. Fieldy is an ET, so he can give you some insight into those job lines more than I can. I'll be going in as an air battle manager for the air force (first choice).

So I've done quite alot lately. I've swapped dashs and converted from HUD to Analog only to fry a wire somewhere on the chassis so my Speedo or Tach dont work lol. I've installed my maual boost controller, AEM Wideband, new FMIC, battery tie down and valve cover...
