first off: the mutual: does anyone have a circuit diagram for the speedo from a heads up display? mine is dead and i'd rather mess with the one ive got than spend a mint on a new one. i only need the diagram for the speedometer unit itself, not the whole gauge cluster (ive got that one and its useless).

second: the bad: i drove to atlanta (250mi-ish) and i ran out of oil. i filled it before i left. it didnt burn it and it didnt leak it either. this time though, the tick didnt go away when i filled it back up with oil. i spun a few bearings. then, since it broke down at six flags, i had to drive it back. that was BAD. now i cant afford the upgrades i had planned because i have to rebuild the engine and buy a new turbo because it cooked the bearings when it ran out of oil.

yeah, im gonna need it. figure ill rebuild it with maybe some new pistons, cams, cam gears and possibly dee's t3/t04 turbo and manifold. the swat ecu im using can drive big injectors and handle some power, ill just fine tune it with the safcII until after the summer. bump the car up to SWAT standards and i should be ok.

by the end of next month the car will either rev high as hell and make decent power or it will rev to 8 and make over 300 highly sketchy horsepower. luckily i know a guy thats as good with the safc as dee is with the sds ems.

still need that circuit diagram though.

god i wish i knew. this is the 3rd time, the other 2 it stopped knocking but this time it bit the big one. it doesnt leak oil, it doesnt visually burn it, it just disappears. to use 4 quarts in 250mi you would THINK you would notice something. my oil light never works either, so i didnt know it was running low until it was completely gone.

Ouch. I'd figure out whats wrong with your oil light. And let us know if you figure out where all that oil was going!

oh, believe me, you will know. ive got a hunch that my intercooler is holding about 4 quarts of oil. let me know if youve got any ideas/suggestions! then engine comes out very soon.

I'll bet your intercooler is full too. I accidentally stumbled onto my blown ring problem. If I hadn't installed that oil catch can, I wouldn't have noticed and would probabally have the same problem you do right now.

yeah, i would like to reccomend that everyone get a catch can so they can avoid this happening to them. it doesnt use any oil around town, and even when you thrash it you dont notice because you dont sustain high-rpms for all that long. on the highway however, because of the gearing on these cars you must sustain around 4k rpm in most cases, this sustained high engine speed really lets oil leak past the rings and back into the intake. from there its on it's merry way far away from where it's needed and your engine runs dry and does things like sieze or spin bearings.

im gonna build this bad boy up like no one ever thought i would. it happened at the best possible time as i have plenty of money to fix it with and then some. itll be locked, stocked and ready to rock by this summer. if i can get the turbo to support it i should see 300whp with shoddy tuning via the safcII.

THis is adumb question, but how does a catch can work? Does it syphon the oil back into the block after you shut down the engine or what?

no you want to dump the oil from the can when it fill up, it will be full of water vapour and unburnt fuel (the oil that is, not the can). It normally gets burnt anyway so you wouldn't be loosing any more oil compared to std.

Oil catch cans catch oil. (and let non oil pass i.e. unburnt fuel & etc, back into the intake to be burned off)

Like Jezz said tho you wouldn't want to pour it back in, since it iwll be full of contaminents (so will your normal oil, but no point adding it back in)

I quick google for a good exeplenation and I came across a D-I-Y site for (presumably, the domain would indicate it, I didn't read the whole page yet) Intregras at http://www.integra.orcon.net.nz/catchcan of course not all of that is directly applicable to our engines, but the basic theory should be.
