With 2 tail light overlays bought from longbeachcoupe.

the first overlay i took to have a tint place install it, and it came out $**ty!!

now with a 2nd, i am going to attempt to install myself w/ wifeys help. now the 60% (dark grey) wasnt dark enough for me. So what im planning on doing is to just leave the 1st installed tint on and put the 2nd tint OVER!

Is this a good idea?ill get the super dark look i want but is it possible, would the 1st tint peel back or bubble up when i apply heat to the 2nd tint??

or should i just peel off old tint and just have one layer of tint & have the weak "smoked" look and ABANDON the "BLACKED OUT" look i want.

Phenom, painting lights isnt in the cards for everyone... back to the topic..

It depends on how crappy the 1st ones were laid down, if its really bad, then the ones on top wont work right.

You can double layer them, but it needs to adhere correctly to the one underneath, if theres bubbles in that one, throwing a 2nd one ontop wont help. The 1st layer shouldnt peel off unless you are trying to peel it off, the heat from the "top layer" shouldn't hurt it.

Yup i laid the 2nd tint on and i got a nice blacked out look, It murders the smoked look.

Only thing is, HAHAAA dammit i cant get the tint to stay put in the outer grooves of the tail lights!! I used soapy water on the sticky side of the tint and on the housing itself, now the I THINK the soapy water is preventing the tint from sticking into the grooves!

other than that forehead vein popper , my install is decent.

Should i just leave the tint around the grooves and hope it "Evaporates" with time? you know let it dry out and come back to it later and try it again...............the SAGA continues

you need to use something to remove the moisture in the groove... take a credit card wrapped in a microfiber towel and push the water out, it should adhere once the water is removed...

Im disappointed bc those are easy to do supposedly lol i hate tinting its hard to do. Good Luck though the heating helps on the edges

Notice the white around the grooved areas, yup that water.Looks MAAAD dark, 2 ply 60% longbeachcoupe overlays.!st layer was an installer fail, 2nd layer i installed myself. I have no clue how to get the tint to stay-put inside the grooves! the soapy water aint going nowhere....anymore tips?

i installed 2nd tint yesterday, to early to let it "evaporate"-like what all tint guys say...

Well if the first set wasnt laid on properly, tossing another set on wont fix the problem... what you COULD try is to make a small slice/pinhole in the area and try to pool the water out of it using a card wrapped in mf towel.

If its trapped under the first set though the adhesive probably already set and may not want to stick anymore.

If its only trapped under the top layer, then you could probably muscle it out (if you just laid em on) poke a small hole (with a pin) and use a card to try and push the water out, then heat the "groove" a bit and try and push the vinyl down to adhere to the light (using some heat as well)

The best solution would have been to do it right the 1st time lol, but its a hard taillight to overlay, although I think you did a damn good job for your first time!

They do look damn dark though! I dig it! And you can only see the imperfections if you are really eyeballin em from close. (inches away from them) from the bottom 2 pics it looks perfect.

double layer is pushing legality... single layer isnt an issue for the most part.

NLghtmare, i lived in NJ and worked at the freehold mall during HS for a bit, they would pull you outta the car like if you hit a child for having tinted windows in freehold twp..

Then i moved to ny and it took me 9 years of driving with tinted windows to get stopped for it and issued a ticket (ironically on the 30th of a month!) which was thrown out in court!

Thats why the overlays are a good idea, you can test the water n see if you will get hassled... most states have a "fix it" option meaning if you fix the problem in 24 hrs, you dont have to pay the fine, (or its only a $10 fine).

Yeah NL, Get you'a pair! Its totally WOR'F the $32 clams, i was suprised how much you could stretch these LONGBEACHCOUPE overlays . If a Noob like me can install'em, i recommend a "do it yourself'er". Save UR $$.
